Peter http://www.eclecticviewpoint.com/evhoag.html The Monuments Of Mars: A City on the Edge of Forever Presented By Richard Hoagland, June, 1992 This is newsletter #5 What if it were possible to solve the mysteries surrounding England's Crop Circles, Stonehenge, The Great Pyramid of Giza, and the Sphinx, as well as have Free Energy? All of these mysteries on planet Earth have been linked by Richard Hoagland in an incredible theory that involves the Cydonia region on Mars. Hoagland, author of The Monuments of Mars: A City on the Edge of Forever, has spent nine years researching the mile-long, 1500 ft. high humanoid Face and surrounding structures photographed on the surface of Mars by the Viking orbiter in 1976. In a major presentation before two overflow audiences of ambassadors and delegates to the United Nations on Feb. 27, Hoagland said that what he and professionals in physics, engineering, cartography, mathematics, anthropology, architecture, and other fields have uncovered in a series of independent investigations "points to something profound waiting for us on Mars, something that will have major implications for every person on this planet." Having trained in the hard sciences of biology and physics, Hoagland is a brilliant multi-disciplinarian in many fields of study. He was Curator of the Museum of Science in Springfield, Massachusetts, at the age of nineteen and has held special directorships at the Gengras Planetarium in West Hartford and the Hayden Planetarium in New York City. Serving as a Science and Space Consultant to the major television networks in the mid 1960s, Richard Hoagland was an advisor to Walter Cronkite for the Apollo moon program. Also a consultant to NASA's Goddard Spaceflight Center, Hoagland, along with Eric Burgess, conceived the first interstellar message (conveying that there was an intelligent life form on planet Earth) which accompanied Pioneer 10 on its voyage beyond the solar system. The series of events which Hoagland relates involving the decade of research into the Face on Mars sounds like a scientific detective story. Using state of the art scientific techniques such as computer imaging as well as "fractal analysis" (the test applied to satellite images of the deserts of Iraq that allowed the U.S. to pick out well camouflaged tanks as being artificial from the surrounding terrain), the investigators were able to determine that the Face was the most unnatural and intrinsically different of any mesa in the photographs as well as being bilaterally symmetrical. Also, structures near the Face were determined to be quantitatively different from the surrounding terrain. One of these structures (referred to as the D & M) was found to be a five-sided pyramid repeatedly encoded with fundamental mathematical constants that were replicated in relationships between the other structures and the Face in the Cydonia region. The sides of the D & M also had the same ratio as the "Golden Mean" encoded in Leonardo da Vinci's famous figure of a man inscribed in a circle. Other mathematical calculations led to the discovery that the pyramid had encoded its own position on Mars in its internal geometry (which they later found repeated in many other pyramids on Earth). Reeling from the implications of the redundancy found in their calculations, Hoagland and this group of multi-disciplinary scientists found that encoded into a tetrahedron-shaped pyramid on the edge of a crater in the Cydonia region was a formula for determining where the major energy spots of each planet in our solar system would be located. The basic message in this tetrahedron geometry was that by spinning a tetrahedron inside a sphere (such as Earth) there will be a vorticular upwelling of energy at 19.5 degrees north or south of the equator. Planetary examples of this include the volcanos in the Hawaiian Island, the Great Red Spot on Jupiter, Olympus Mons on Mars, the volcanos on Venus and the peak sunspot activity on the sun. Based on this pattern, Hoagland and his associates predicted in a paper published two weeks before Voyager II reached Neptune in 1989 that the Great Dark Spot on Neptune would be at 19.5 degrees south. Their prediction proved to be correct. Even the major volcanic complex on Triton, the little moon of Neptune, fit the pattern by being at 19.5 degrees north. (Is it coincidence that most of the pyramids on Earth and many of the ancient ceremonial sites are located at this same latitude of 19.5 degrees with its concomitant high level of energy?) Hoagland finds the same tetrahedron geometry repeated in the crop circles of England. "What it means," he says, "is that someone not only knows the same mathematics as those who designed Cydonia, they are laying it out for us over and over again. There is something important about that math and that geometry that we are intended to figure out. The same ones who left Cydonia are back ... and saying, 'Oh, My God, they still haven't got it!' So they're trying gently, exquisitely, artistically to give it to us again. But not in a threatening way, and certainly not by landing on the White House lawn. They're doing it with a lure and a mystery and a magic." Hoagland and his associates are currently working on a theory that this tetrahedron geometry holds the key to a "free form of energy" for this planet. Could this be the reason that NASA reversed itself after producing and broadcasting Hoagland's Mars on PBS in 1991 and is now saying that there is not a reason to reimage and study the Cydonia area when the Mars Observer leaves in September of this year, 1992? NASA has said that even if they do reimage the area (which will yield pictures 50 times sharper than those of the 1976 Viking mission) there will be an embargo on the images for 6 to 9 months. Is this not odd since NASA has traditionally broadcast live pictures for us to see astronauts walking on the moon, the Endeavour crew recently repairing a satellite, and other such exploits in space? What is so different about Mars? What are they afraid we will see? Even though this embargo would be a violation of the Space Act of 1958 which clearly states that all data acquired by NASA must be made public, Hoagland feels that without pressure from the American people NASA will not honor this commitment. Therefore, he is on a tour across the country appealing to "grassroots America" to get behind his fight to force Congress and politicians hoping for re-election this fall to put pressure on NASA -- pressure to take the pictures and release the data! If you could attend only one presentation by The Eclectic Viewpoint this year, Hoagland's Monuments of Mars should be the one! His video and slide presentation is awe-inspiring! It seems very appropriate that the man who felt the importance of signaling any intelligent life forms who encountered Pioneer 10 of our existence on planet Earth should be the one to decipher the message left by another life form on Mars that we indeed are not alone!
