The American Revolution would never have occurred if the colonists were
unarmed. This fact alone should stifle arguments for gun control- how can
you argue against something which was a prerequisite for us to enjoy the
freedoms we do today?

The whole issue is really good intentions gone out of control.  If we give
the gun-control advocates the benefit of doubt, we can say that they are
well-intentioned people who want to stop others from being killed by guns.
It is unfortunate that they are deluded into thinking that legislation will
cause human nature to change.
