NEW RUSSIAN AND CHINESE AIR-AIR MISSILE. Western Defence experts today are saying a new weapon developed by Russia and China could smash NATO pilots out of the sky even before they know it is there....Defence experts have warned.. The missile can streak through the sky at more than 3,000mph to destroy NATO or enemy aircraft with extreme accuracy 50 miles away in less than 1 minute from firing. It has at least twice the speed of the best NATO air-air missile at that range and better than any NATO missile we have to fight back in self-defence., Defence sources warned today... Most missiles fire like fireworks, burning about 6 to 8 seconds before fizzing and dieing out and the rest of the travel is done so under glide which slows the missiles down before they have impacted the target aircraft. The new Russian designed missile has a motor that burns for over 1 minute allowing supreme speed all the way to the target of 3,000+mph. If the target is further than 50 miles and the motor burns out, air inlets open up and an advanced RamJet takes over power to make sure it sustains the top speed, much like the SR-71 engines. Although the russian missile has been known for sometime, defence experts say its development has gone into advanced stages and way ahead of what we thought it was due to the financial backing of China. Two rival western missile developers are currently developing a missile to counter the aircraft threat before it has time to launch this devastating ram-jet powered missile. The missile has successfully vompletely ground based trials and a fully powered version was shown at the moscow Zhukovsky airshow in September. There are fears that with China's financial muscle may allow the missile to begin final flight testing soon meaning the threat could be in service on Russian and Chinese Jets by the year 2005 years ahead of the current Western programs. BAe Dynamics systems and Matra Dynamics are both working together on the 'Meteor' known for some time but now under threat of being 'out of date' from this new missile. Further development is hurrily being done to make sure out western fighters have the range and edge over the Enemy before they can launch this deadly new russian missile. Raytheon of the US is also developing a missile to counter the threat which uses a double pulse engine to keep its speed up.
