The only good online currency I have found (and I spend a lot of time looking into
these things) is e-gold. If you go to e-gold.com you can open a free account, then use
it to buy and sell gold (nominally). There are merchants who sell their goods for
e-gold, or who will write a cheque to a 3rd party on your behalf from your account.
This is very handy for someone not in the US to pay someone in the US.
And best of all, there are some merhcants who will accept 3rd party cheques or money
orders, allowing you to conduct business totally anonymously and without even a bank
account!
