RICHMOND, Va. (January 27, 2001 9:44 p.m. EST http://www.nandotimes.com) -

A proposed law that would let Fairfax County prohibit its residents from
sleeping in rooms other than a bedroom has won approval in the state Senate.
The legislation passed Friday by a vote of 20 to 19, but the bill's
detractors demanded it be reconsidered Monday.

Gerald E. Connolly, a county Board of Supervisors member, said the
legislation made him uncomfortable. "I have a lot of problems with government
telling people where they can or cannot sleep," Connolly said. "As far as I
know, this bill was not introduced at the behest of Fairfax County."
