Not.
There is a growing body of research that suggests that the
system is not closed, that the Earth is constantly getting ET
water from space. Heretofore, it has been viewed as a closed
system where every drop of water makes it through the entire
hydrological cycle in 7 years, from rain over continents, to
runoff into and through the fresh waters of the planet,
eventually to the deep stagnant waters of the ocean benthos, to
evaporation and rain again. Lately there is a growing number of
scientists of various science fields that believe that water is
everywhere in the form of ionic Hydrogen that reacts with other
atoms/molecules such as O(2) and Ozone to constantly replenish
any astro-body that can retain water, i.e., "green planets" such
as ours.
I believe it was Steve Wingate that posted a URL from a major
institution (NASA or NOA??) a couple years ago that presents all
the research in this regard.
