Condit Broke Local Law Prohibiting Adultery

(Washingtom D.C.) In the District of Columbia and 27 other states, adultery
is a misdemeanor crime, with punishments ranging from a $10 fine to life in
prison, the Libertarian Party noted on Thursday.
Therefore, said Libertarian National Director Steve Dasbach, "California
Congressman [Gary] Condit is a sex criminal - he confessed when he
acknowledged having an affair with Chandra Levy."
In making his point about unnecessary and obsolete laws, Dasbach said, "The
only question now is whether the Congressman should go to jail for
committing this sex crime."
The Libertarians say the Condit case is interesting because it illustrates
the stark difference between two types of crimes - "those that harm others
and those that do not."
The Libertarian Party urged D.C. police to continue looking for the person
who may have harmed Chandra Levy.
Police should "not spend one second prosecuting Congressman Condit for the
so-called crime of adultery," the press release said.
