NOTE: An introduction to one of John Foster �Chip� Berlet�s primary
benefactors, Richard J. �Soy Bean King� Dennis -- Richard Dennis has
conducted dirty business deals with Senator Fred Thompson (R, Tenn.)
involving Hollywood film profits disguised as soybean deals. But this is a
mild charge compared to some that have been directed Dennis�s way. George
Bush, Sr. and Ollie North have both been implicated in CIA drug trafficking
and money laundering in the South. The pelf was also channelled through
Chicago�s Garfield Ridge Trust & Savings Bank. Garfield�s chief shareholder
at this time was Congressman Dan Rostenkowski -- who is currently serving a
prison sentence for defrauding the House of Representatives� bank. The last
stop for the dirty money raised by Bush and Thompson was the Chicago Board

�While this may be the latest chapter in how JFB serves the same roll as
John Rees and both work for the same ruling elite, there is also an old list
of questions about JFB and PRA which also need to be public knowledge and
which deserve answers.
�Why, precisely, is the �Beacon Fund,� which is one of PRA�s foundation
donors listed on p. 17 of PRA�s A Ten Year Report: 1981-1991, entitled
Unmasking the Political Right. The director of PRA, Jean Hardisty, has
refused to answer questions about this funder. She passed the buck to David
Romeyn hunter who has also refused to answer questions about it. There is no
Beacon Fund in any recent foundation directory. The last and only known
Beacon Fund was a CIA dummy foundation which was exposed in 1967 by everyone
from Ramparts to the Washington Post.
�Why does Richard Dennis seem to drop money on PRA in direct proportion to
JFB�s trashing of someone whom the US government loves to hate? When John
Foster Berlet put out Clouds Blur the Rainbow in 1988, Richard Dennis
dropped $75k into PRA. There was a payment of $112,500 in 1990 when the
first edition of Right Woos Left was hitting the stands.
�This raises the question, who is Richard Dennis? This is a very important
question. I have discovered some information on Mr. Dennis which I outlined
in a letter to a fellow researcher in December 1992.
�Richard Dennis is a director of the now defunct Roosevelt Center for
American Policy Studies. Funding comes from the Ford Foundation (85K), NED
(25K), Markele Foundation (55K), Richard Dennis (90K), etc. for 1988 -- on
one schedule. Another schedule shows additional �contributions in excess of
$5,000,� and these included Hewlett Foundation, Ford Foundation, Joyce
Foundation, James Irvine Foundation, R.J. Dennis, Principal Foundation....
�All this read out CIA to me, both on money in and projects out. And it get
more Byzantine with Dennis� Chicago Resource Center, which gets money from
both Dennis and RCAPS and $112,500 to PRA in 1990. In 1990, Richard Dennis�
brother Thomas gave $4,270,000 to CRC while Richard was in for a mere 50K --
that year. However, William Eckhardt put in $2,000,000, so they were OK.
�Then one can switch over to the �Fifth Horseman Political Action
Committee,� which is largely funded and run by the self-same Troika while it
also receives money from PRA�s Hardisty, among others. It gives money to
people like Senator Kerry, John McCain, Jim Leach, Jim Traficant, etc.
�I find all these interlocks and inter-funding most interesting. It seems to
me that PRA is really only part of a much larger network of dirty tricks,
dirty money and dirty disinformation.... PRA and John Foster Berlet are part
of a much larger and more sinister network than most people can even begin
to imagine. The CIA is truly ubiquitous.
�Richard Dennis is also president of The Center for the Study of Democratic
Institutions.
