Dear friends,
we are writing to ask you to take part in a sort of game - fun, yet serious at the same time. To great surprise - including to himself - Marco Cappato has been chosen among the six most influential MEPs and the fifty most influential figures in Europe, thanks to his efforts in defence of freedom on the Internet. The "selector" is the weekly newspaper European Voice (part of the Economist group). The selectors are MEPs like the leader of the Communist Group Wurtz and the current Spanish Foreign Minister, and leading figures like Chirac, Prodi and Pope John Paul II himself (no less).
The final election of the "European of the Year" - among the six MEPs and the fifty figures - will take place with an on-line vote: the "polls" are already open, and will close on 15 November.
This is why we are telling you about the election, in the hope that all the members of the "Radical community" will vote immediately for Marco Cappato. Above all, we would like to think that each of you will follow our example and extend this invitation to your friends and acquaintances, perhaps even giving a hand to "non-surfers".
