Like many I want to upgrade to dbmail-2.2 from a 2.0 install. However I have
37G DB and
really am worried about the time it's going to take to do the bytea conversion
on dbmail_messageblks.

I'd like to know if there is a way that I could dump the database, then restore
it so the new
tables created are in the bytea format.

I believe I can dump my database in about 2 hours and the restore takes about
as long. That's
with compression, so I can probably do it in less. I think it would be easier
for me to dump/restore
and hopefully get back up and running on my original dbmail-2.0 install. Then
I could wait for
another maintenance night and do the upgrade to 2.2.

I assume I would have to change the SQL queries in 2.0 to deal with the bytea
to text conversion
but I don't see that being a big deal, maybe I'm wrong.

Anyone have any thoughts about this? Would I need to make changes to the
dbmail program
if I used bytea in 2.0?

Thanks,
David
