Mar. 22 IDAHO: Federal court rejects Sivak's death row appeals All of the appeals of Idaho death row inmate Lacey Mark Sivak have been rejected by a federal court judge. U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill handed down the ruling today. Sivak's defense attorneys say they haven't reviewed the 73-page ruling yet and so can't comment. But likely steps include asking Winmill to reconsider or appealing the case to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Sivak was sentenced to death in 1981 for the stabbing and shooting murder of his former co-worker, Dixie Wilson, at a gas station in Garden City. Now Sivak is the longest-serving inmate currently on Idaho's death row. He's filed dozens of appeals and petitions in the case. But in his ruling, Winmill dismantled each of Sivak's claims. He says Sivak failed to prove that any error in his trial or sentencing had a substantial effect on the outcome of the case. (source: Associated Press)
