I believe this is because the package was built against dpkg-dev without
multiarch support. To make sure this won't accidentally happen again, I
suggest the following changes to packaging:
1) Add "dpkg-dev (>= 1.16)" to Build-Depends.
2) Upgrade debhelper compat level to (at least) 5, so that dh_install errors
out if wildcards expand to nothing.
