The part "What's more confusing is that the frequency can be put
below the limit at runtime, but when saving and reloading a patch,
it's reset to the limit." actually referred to ams. (At the time I
wrote the report, I wasn't clear about the difference and had
assumed LADSPA was an integral part of ams.)

That seems to have changed in newer ams versions. The frequency
cannot be put below the limit at runtime, so the strange behaviour
doesn't seem to happen anymore. Yet the arbitrary limit still
applies (even stronger than before in a way).

So the actual bug report and patch still stand and seem to be
unchanged in lenny, squeeze, wheezy and jessie.
