I have replugged my scanner into my desktop system. I can scan media,
but I always get empty or all-black images, for example:

I notice that when I run xsane, there is white illumination, but the
resulting image is all black. When I run scanimage, the illumination is
red, and the file is empty.
Both 'man sane-genesys' and http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html
say that the Xerox Travel Scanner 100 is well-supported. I bought this
device only because I read those documents first, and it cost me $200.
I suggest removing it from the list of supported devices, at least
temporarily.

I think it is an problem with your USB HUP.
This is form your logs:

The error code 110 indicates that the interface can not supply enough
power.
Can you check the scanner on an other port and/or on an active external
Hub?
If the error still exists please remove all power plugs from the main
board for 10-15 minutes and then test it again.
