Package: nvidia-driver Version: 390.87-8~deb9u1 Dear maintainer,
as mentioned in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=868087 and https://github.com/the-cavalry/light-locker/issues/77, there is a problem when using a combination of the proprietary nvidia-driver + light-locker + lightdm: when locking the screen, the login/unlock screen is never shown. Instead we are sent to a console screen with only a fast blinking cursor. Changing vtty with Ctrl+Alt+F1...F7 does not work and only rebooting allows getting back a login screen. The solution I found was simply to generate a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file using 'sudo nvidia-xconfig'. The docs at https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers suggest it is no longer needed to run nvidia-xconfig, but for me it was. After running it, the screen locking mechanism immediately started working correctly. Maybe the wiki should recommend running sudo nvidia-xconfig anyway to avoid such problems? It would be even better if the nvidia-driver package's postinst script did it automatically.
