Hi, did you have some time to have a look at this? I encountered a minor problem when using 'update-glx glx' (https://packages.debian.org/sid/update-glx package), which updates the glx alternative but does not remove the nvidia entry from xorg.conf
I still think it would be good to have automatically generated (maybe make it optional through a debconf dialog?). @anbe, ping
