I thought it might be tricky, bug decided to report it in case you could do magic :-) There was a similar bug about the executable being in a different package (update-alternatives). It is the first time I have come across the issue. But there might be other plugin type cases. Looking at the lintian website, there are lots of overrides, and soon to be one more.
