The pipeline failure is not related. It's because apt no longer depends adduser. I know it's been discussed elsewhere, but I can't remember (maybe on IRC). Somebody is working on it, I think the plan is to mark adduser essential. You could just re-trigger the pipeline for your old commit to confirm. -- Shengjing Zhu
