I'm quite reluctant in adding extra smb.conf tweaking depending on the architecture. That would make us derive from the policy we adopted last years : avoid deriving too much, in our default settings, from upstream's defaults. So, well, I'll link this bug report to upstream's. Having it in Debian BTS documents the issue for other users...and let's hope it is fixed upstream one day or another..:-)
