Sorry, I don't understand... This is merely an alternative driver from hardware vendor. Sometimes you might need alternatives if your hardware doesn't work well, or if you just suspect it do not work well but you need something to compare with.
"Fixing stuff" is always good if you can do it. Dmitry.
