Thanks Miry! I've installed the new version, downloaded as wget ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/x/xmlcopyeditor/xmlcopyeditor_1.2.0.6-2_i386.deb
The call via desktop menu item (i.e desktop file) works, also the creation of a new xml document via the program's menu bar. Unfortunately, the call with option -h and closing the window still ends up in a segmentation fault. In the next days I will give xmlcopyeditor another usage test...
