It happens with me too. When I upgraded my home computer, it installs this libpam-smbpass version and I cannot log in anymore. Even with ssh it cuts the connection when the authentication suceeded. And the error messages are all the same 'double free or corruption'
The problem was fixed after booting with a live system, do a chroot and downgrade samba.
