Hi, Is there currently a problem with initramfs image? The generated initramfs image (by the debian-installer or during kernel image update) triggers a segmentation fault on my hp workstation zx6000 at startup and I'm left in a BusyBox environment (complete trace recorded on a serial console at the end of this post). This is with up-to-date Debian Etch. As a workaround, I must create an initrd image either using mkinitrd from the initrd-tools package or using mkinitrd.yaird from the yaird package.
Cheers, Émeric ELILO boot: Linux Uncompressing Linux... done Loading file \EFI\debian\initrd.img...done Linux version 2.6.15-1-mckinley-smp (Debian 2.6.15-7) ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc ve rsion 4.0.3 20060212 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.2-9)) #2 SMP Wed Feb 22 16:20:54 C ST 2006 EFI v1.10 by HP: SALsystab=0x3fb38000 ACPI 2.0=0x3fb2e000 SMBIOS=0x3fb3a000 HCDP =0x3fb2c000 booting generic kernel on platform hpzx1 PCDP: v0 at 0x3fb2c000 Explicit "console="; ignoring PCDP Initial ramdisk at: 0xe0000040fe72c000 (8819836 bytes) SAL 3.1: HP version 2.31 SAL Platform features: None SAL: AP wakeup using external interrupt vector 0xff No logical to physical processor mapping available ACPI: Local APIC address c0000000fee00000 GSI 36 (level, low) -> CPU 0 (0x0000) vector 48 2 CPUs available, 2 CPUs total MCA related initialization done Virtual mem_map starts at 0xa0007fffc7200000 Built 1 zonelists Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=scsi0:/EFI/debian/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda2 ro cons ole=ttyS0,9600n8 PID hash table entries: 4096 (order: 12, 131072 bytes) Console: colour VGA+ 80x25 Memory: 6217472k/6248192k available (4579k code, 46464k reserved, 1943k data, 33 6k init) McKinley Errata 9 workaround not needed; disabling it Security Framework v1.0.0 initialized SELinux: Disabled at boot.
