Hi,

I recently captured a conversation involving Bastain saying that the
stage1 build profile was deprecated. He's right!

So I went searching for users of this profile. The most obvious user to
me is rebootstrap. It turns out that stage1 is sufficiently similar to
pkg.linux.nokernel,pkg.linux.nosource,pkg.linux.notools that I can just
use that profile combination instead and changed rebootstrap.

Another obvious candidate is cross-toolchain-base as it also produces
packages that resemble a linux-libc-dev. Looking into it, I found that
it doesn't use linux' packaging at all and just does make
headers_install, so it does not use stage1 either.

And with that I'm lost locating users of linux' stage1 profile.

Is it time to delete it?

If your answer is "no", please close this bug without further action.

Helmut
