The files in .source are just empty files (can be replaced) of the filetype. $ cat templates/ooo-writer.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=OpenOffice.org Writer ... Name[de]=OpenOffice.org Writer ... Comment=Enter OpenOffice.org Writer filename: Comment[de]=Name der OpenOffice.org Writer Datei eingeben: Type=Link URL=.source/ooo-writer.odt Icon=openofficeorg3-oasis-text If you click on the context menu for example of writer you will be asked for a filename and this one will be the new filename.odt.
