Hi, I recently noticed kdm_greet took a long time to run on startup, and lsof indicated that kdm_greet was looking at some TrueType font files (such as Code2002) for a considerable length of time. There *may* have been due to some of the TrueType font file names ending in .TTF rather than .ttf, so I renamed them. More likely the problem was due to the font-cache being out-of-date. I re-ran mkfontscale, mkfontdir and fc-cache against my TrueType fonts directory and the slow run of kdm_greet disappeared. Should kdm_greet generate a warning message if it has to bypass the font-cache?
