Hi, I think that exists some runtime dependencies declared in debian/control file that have not been used, could you check them?
And I think that you should start to import the upstream source code from github, where you can get and run tests (upstream do not ship with test files). Maybe you can point debian/watch to github and stop importing from rubygems for now. Consider this as an extra :) Cheers.
