I really don't know anything about DNS. I have never attempted to set up a network. I looked at the file /etc/resolv.conf and found two valid primary and secondary DNS numbers from my isp, probably put in by pppconfig. I'm not trying to test my program online though. I'm just trying to test the cgi/perl stuff on my system, which is one stand alone box. I ran ifconfig and found a number under "lo" that corresponded to the number in my /etc/hosts file. I put that in /etc/resolv.conf to see if that would help and it didn't. I don't know if that provides more info towards my problem or not. Thanks, kent
