You can boot from it, perhaps you bios doesn't support it, but don't worry the are more ways to get where you want to be:
- Install MBR with LILO onto your hda, with a lilo.conf that has something that looks like this: other=/dev/hdb1 label=Second_Harddisk alias=sd - Install a MBR with LILO on you hdb as well....
