Perfect, that is exactly what is needed. Set to "medium".

However, there appears to be a bug, in that right after asking me if I
want to "Try to autodetect display?" it goes back into "Empty Value. A
null entry is not permitted for this value." but it doesn't say what
the value is. Infinite loop at that point, unfortunately. I think I'll
try setting the value to "low" priority questions and see if it makes
any difference...Done.

And to think I did a reinstall just to avoid the xf86 -> xorg
upgrade... Silly me.

Running dselect to get the ball rolling, I just noticed that a new
version of the xserver-xorg has been posted, let's see if it works
this time... time passes, packages update...
