I had the same problem, where a mcop directory couldn't be created. I don't mind to have a kde (partly?) hanging around though.
How I fixed it was:
`rm -rf ~/.kde ; kde-menu`
The later command recreated my ~/.kde directory and fixed my broken
~/.kde/tmp-${USER} symlink and added a~/.kde/socket-${USER} symlink. After
that xine worked again.
