Not sure about best practices, I like staying with stable and will use Debian backports. No longer a proponent of apt pinning sid & testing, or other repo's. Iceweasel (Firefox) 5.x entered Sid recently. I think once it migrates to testing, it will be a candidate for squeeze-backports.
