Yes, it does not work for me either (using wheezy + intel card here) and I used the sample given in xrandr man page so something seems broken or not properly documented. xrandr --fb 1600x600 --output LVDS1 --mode 1204x600 --panning 1600x0 This indeed makes "something" because when cursor reaches the right edge of the screen there is a "sightly" movement but cursor does not go beyond which is of course, wrong. > I'm not getting heads or tails from the web page... can you take an > educated guess what might work to give me a fair bit of panning room? It should be enough with a simple: xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --panning 2048 1536 But I can confirm that this is not working while it was months ago so unless xrandr now needs puting things in a different way I dunno what's going wrong :-?
