Have you tried the file system copy and paste method I outlined? Did it work? If it didn't work or doesn't meet your needs, please clarify.

I didn't try copy and paste because there must be a ton of files, sub directories and the sub-sub directories none of them easily readable. To accurately cut an paste would be a nightmare. As an example, the following files and directories are under the .icedove/e7yi94cf.default directory:

abook-1.mab downloads.sqlite mailViews.dat secmod.db abook.mab *extensions* mimeTypes.rdf session.json addons.sqlite extensions.ini panacea.dat signons.sqlite blocklist.xml extensions.rdf permissions.sqlite *startupCache* *Cache* extensions.sqlite persdict.dat training.dat cert8.db folderTree.json places.sqlite traits.dat chromeappsstore.sqlite global-messages-db.sqlite places.sqlite-shm urlclassifier3.sqlite compatibility.ini history.mab places.sqlite-wal urlclassifier.pset compreg.dat key3.db pluginreg.dat virtualFolders.dat content-prefs.sqlite localstore.rdf prefs.js webappsstore.sqlite cookies.sqlite lock search.json xpti.dat
    directoryTree.json *Mail* search.sqlite

The directories are in bold face. Under the Mail directory are the following directories:

*incoming.verizon-1.net
    incoming.verizon.net
    Local Folders
    smart mailboxes*

Under the incoming.verizon-1.net directory (as an example) are the following files:

Drafts filterlog.html Inbox.msf popstate.dat Sent.msf Trash.msf Drafts.msf Inbox msgFilterRules.dat Sent Trash

I need some kind of a tool to merge the messages and it needs to be programmed by someone that knows a lot more about the innards if Icedove than I do. I would assume that the Import / Export tools should do this but it is not intuitively obvious how to use them. If someone knows how to use the Import tools I could really use their help.
