I read somewhere that 'cfdisk' should be better in defining partition borders fitting to those virtual cylinders and sectors of IDE drives. With my 8 years old computer, I found following the Win95 FDISK by cfdisk in order to partition the rest of my drives for Linux to be less error-prone than working with fdisk. I forgot the details, but with fdisk, I ran into some error messages concerning partition borders, even writing errors from Linux partitions into Windows partitions or so. Unfortunately, I can't give more details, but I would suggest using fdisk and, if troubles should show up, especially in combination with other OSs, try cfdisk. W.
