Roger plans to upload the images in http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12321055/roger_full_showcase.jpg as separate files to DERBY-747. Once they are checked into svn it'll be easy for the doc build (and web site build) to access them.
If you want something to test with for the docs in the meantime, you might try working with http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12321022/derby_logo_only.jpg .
