Hi Guido, thanks for your bug report. I am unable to reproduce this on an up-to-date Hardy. If I try to open to same file twice via the GUI or CLI, it just focuses the tab that the file is in, it does not open a new one anywhere. Do you have a different setting enabled that allows this?
In regards to your other question, this bug does not actually sound similar to the other bug. That bug is in regards to gedit not allowing two instances to be run, yours is almost the opposite if I understand correctly; it opens multiple instances when you don't want it to. It may be a side effect of the fix to that bug, however. If you could provide me with some more details on how to reproduce this and if you agree that it is different from the bug you mentioned, I can help to move this bug along.
