I've actually stopped using the weather applet cause the date/time
applet can show weather too and don't have this problem.

What I originally did was to change the "temperature unit" in the
preferences and then changed it back to default. It worked fine with
setting a specific unit (K, C, F) but when I changed it back to default,
it did show the duplicate degree sign.

I can't seem to get it to display the duplicate degree sign again but
now it shows "unknown" instead of the temperature/temperature unit. When
I set it back to a specific unit, then again it works fine.

I changed my locale to en_US, rebooted to apply it correctly, and the
bug is still there. But after the reboot, the default option seemed to
work fine (I left it to default (displayed unkown) before restarting).
But when I change it to something else and then back to default, the bug
occurs. My logic tells me it's something to do with how they set the
default temperature unit after setting it to something else.

I've attached a screenshot to show the current situation.

Hope this helps.
