Thank you for your bug report. There is no real way to handle cleaning broken configuration so either the software continues to work in a broken way or raise an error, the nautilus team decided to raise an error apparently so that's not a bug. You should rather try to figure what broke your configuration and report that as a bug. If you want to argue on the raising error or working in a broken way you should use bugzilla.gnome.org directly, ubuntu is not going to change that in a distribution specific way
