Public bug reported: ekiga is a software VoIP (Internet) phone. ekiga has a Wizard that guides the use on setting up their details. One of these setups is an option to "Test" the microphone and speaker settings. This worked, but the recording level was far too low and not automatically adjusted.
For instance, sratch the microphone casing resulted in a very faint scratching noise coming back.
