I am also experiencing this bug on media playback in totem. Running 10.04 UNR on an eee 901. I don't know if its related, but the file playback was over gvfs through a samba share.
However, the media file is not AC3, so its not simply AC3 decoding. Here is the audio details of a file where I'm seeing this. I haven't tested others yet.
