Im having the same problem. When i first play these certain files- they will play fine. I will then click on another song and the cracking begins and the song that i was previously playing continues to play with the newly selected songs. Once this crackling noise begins i have no control over stopping the songs from playing and i have to restart rhythmbox
There are particular files that always do this when i play them, however if i play them in another player like exile they work fine. Maybe its because of the high bit rate? I also use an external hard drive.
