Hello,

how does gnome detect the type (x11, wayland, tty, etc.) of a session?
I am trying to convert a session which originally started as x11 or tty
to wayland, but though I set XDG_SESSION_TYPE and even set the systemd
session type to wayland (after patching systemd in a way that allows
this), Gnome refuses to start, with a message in syslog telling me that
gnome-shell believes that it should run in an x11 or tty session.

Regards
  Christoph
