There are a couple of methods suggested there to integrate Skype in
Empathy. Sorry I haven't tried them so I don't know if they work.

  Unable to add skype account to empathy under unity

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I am unable to add my skype account to empathy, since (afaik) online accounts 
is the only way to do so with empathy under unity.
  while in gnome 3, skype appears under accounts in empathy and empathy is 
happy to use it.
