I did what you have described in 1. and 2. Additionally I had to modify the
feature.xml for some other packages:
features/org.apache.geronimo.feature_2.0.0
features/org.apache.geronimo.v11.feature_2.0.0
features/org.apache.geronimo.v20.feature_2.0.0
As before, the everything works nicely, also the update/install functionality
is working now.
In case it is important: We are still working with geronimo 1.1.1 here.
