Actually you don't need to patch httpd-2.0 for *that*. You can write a small module, which registers the mapper function at runtime. I can help you, if you like (I'm a happy Gentoo user, though I'm naturally using my own httpd ebuild ;-)) However, I think, the map is way too special for common inclusion. A better way would be to provide a general replace map (starting with 2.1, I'd suggest). For 2.0 releases the small support module should be enough.
