The cache needs a notifier api, because as Joe pointed out, it cannot be guaranteed that the ap_core_output_filter() will not block. You have one in the pipeline, this is definitely a big next step.The cache also needs some testing, both for performance, and to make sure there are no lingering memory leaks.
