I don't feel strongly about this. It is such an unusual edge case (I believe Yann pointed out it was a custom module he was working around) that it should rarely be seen in the wild. I'd be fine if we want to accelerate this into 2.2.32, or get 2.2.32 out and then backport to have the patch available for the very few who are impacted.
