Spaces have the advantage of a universal consistent layout. And most IDEs have an option to convert or use spaces instead of tabs. Oh, and the tabspacing of 8 is IMO ridiculous ... that would lead to a very wide layout.

Hi, It seems like we've officially switched to using Sun's coding conventions in trunk. Great!!! Now Sun doesn't specify whether to use spaces or tabs for indentation. Here's what they say on this matter: "Four spaces should be used as the unit of indentation. The exact construction of the indentation (spaces vs. tabs) is unspecified. Tabs must be set exactly every 8 spaces (not 4)." Now I'm a spaces kind of guy but I don't know about what others prefer. What do you guys think? Or have we already made a decision on this? -- Niklas Therning www.spamdrain.net
