Release 1.6 ?

I was wondering where we are on the (re-)release of 1.6 instead of the 
cancelled 1.5. I assume the legal concerns have been addressed, so perhaps now 
would be a good time to release 1.6 - especially since we have added some 
useful bug fixes and features.
